POTTING
The bulbs have to be put in pots with the right porous potting mixture with a PH value of 5.8 to 7.5. Don't use bark and fresh compost. Use clean pots with drainage holes. Plant the bulbs in the pot with the tip of the bulb sticking about 1/3 above the pot. Tamp down the potting mixture to make sure the bulb sits firmly in the pot.
WATERING
Water the bulbs well after they have been potted and don't allow the potting mixture to dry out too much after that. However, too much water isn't good for them either and will not stimulate root development.
GROW
Place in a sunny, warm location. Enjoy the fabulous flowers in 2-8 weeks! In India it is recommended to keep the plant away from direct sunlight
Once your plant blooms, there are a few steps you need to keep in mind to keep it blooming year after year.
After the Amaryllis has stopped blooming, it can be made to bloom again. You need to trim the stem of about 6” above the bulb. Do not cut the leaves.
Keep your pot in a sunny spot so the leaves can get light, photosynthesis and will provide nourishment to the bulbs.
Keep watering your amaryllis as the soil stays moist. But never overwater the plant. Keep watering all summer for at least 4-5 months , allowing the leaves to fully develop and grow.
Once the leaves become yellow, cut all the leaves. This normally occurs in the early fall. Cut the leaves about 2” from the top of the bulb. Remove the soil from the bulb.
Store your bulb in cool, dry, dark place (closet or basement) where it can rest for several months.
In December plant your bulb and place the pot in light and water it.
Keep the soil moist to restart the process.
You can keep it in your living area or in house.
